The Bouqueval/Plessis-Gassot landfill is some 20 kilometers to the north of Paris.

The area is not highly urbanized, but has good road access via the N16 and D10. The site itself is near one of the exits from the Francilienne beltway.

Moreover, the geological structure of the terrain, based on fine sand, sandstone and limestone, is perfect for burying waste.
