The disposal cells

Each cell covers 10 hectares and is about 15 meters deep. After preparation, the waste is spread and compacted into successive layers by 50-ton compactors. As the cells are filled, biogas recovery drains are installed between the layers of waste. It takes an average of 18 months to fill a cell. It is then covered by 2 meters of earth and 50 centimeters of top soil, before being replanted.
